Ehalkivi

Ehalkivi

Ehalkivi is situated on Letipea cape, near the city of Kunda. It can be reached by foot but the hike from Kunda is quite long - approx. 8 km.

Ehalkivi is the biggest boulder in Estonia, with above-ground volume of 930 m3 and measures 16,6x14,3x7,6m. It resembles a big egg and is composed of pegmatite. As the boulder is situated on shoreline, it can be totally surrounded by water or be on dry land. Usually it is somewhere inbetween. Climbing in winter allows to climb all sides of the boulder if ice conditions are appropriate.
